House by the Forest
House by the Forest
The interiors of the House by the Forest follow the same guiding principles established by the building’s authors - architects from the Bytom-based studio Medusa Group. The design of the interior and the material choices stem naturally from the architecture itself, forming one coherent whole. Natural materials, raw expression, simplicity, and carefully refined details were the main directions set by the investors for this project.
The raw concrete of the walls and ceilings is complemented by terrazzo flooring, wooden wall claddings, and oak doors. The pivot, folding, and sliding doors, finished with oak veneer, were designed as an extension of the architectural concept. They make it possible to close off or open up particular areas, allowing the zones of the house to merge or separate as needed.
The functional layout and architectural plan had a strong influence on the design assumptions and decisions. The selection of materials, colors, and the geometry of individual elements were all deliberate. The kitchen island and the fireplace were conceived as simple, black, geometric forms - carefully detailed and finished. Their placement and proportions define the open-plan living area, subtly separating the kitchen, dining, and living zones while maintaining the feeling of a single, continuous space.
The technical and functional lighting of each area had to be planned already at the architectural stage, due to the building technology of the house. Decorative lighting complements these arrangements, harmonizing with the materials and other design elements. Curtains, rugs, and upholstered furniture soften the atmosphere and improve the acoustics of the interior.
Harmony, coherence, and the use of authentic materials, combined with a sense of spaciousness, shape the overall character and perception of this home.
